The harmattan dance

Each of us has at one time in our lives (mostly childhood) partaken in the ancient art of the harmattan dance. That walk-slash-dance you shakily do while making your way out of the bathroom after a cold bath on a cold harmattan morning (like this morning). Watching my little cousins do the dance while I laugh at them brought a warm, nostalgic feeling to me. But to preserve my concentration (and to escape from that annoying kid at the gate singing Godwin whom I have unsuccessfully tried to stop), I had to leave them and return to my room to perform another ancient art called going through the news.

First of all, did you remember to pray for Nigeria today, if you didn't there's still time, God bless Nigeria takes about 2seconds to articulate. Say it. We need as much prayers as we can get.
I read a report last night which will surely send chills down your spines and it stated that our seeds of Moloch - Boko Haram has overtaken ISIS as the world’s most deadly terrorist organisation. The terror group, also known as Islamic State’s West’s Africa province (ISWAP), was responsible for 6,644 deaths in 2014.
In comparison, Isis is believed to have killed 6,073 people in the same period. Boko Haram pledged allegiance to the group, also known as the Islamic State, in March of this year. That's 6,644 Nigerians (and a couple of non - Nigerians) who have become statistics due to the activities of this Sect. When it comes to injuries though, ISIS leads the way with 5799 victims compared to Boko Haram's score of 1742.
It is sadly worthy of note too, that Fulani Militants rank fourth in this index, coming close on the heels of the Taliban fighters. They boast of 1229 kills and 395 injuries.
More news, Nigeria recorded more deaths as a result of terrorism than any other country between 2013 and 2014. For more info and detailed charts click here.
Start praying.

We also learnt that lawyers were in a sort of scramble yesterday to determine who will represent Biafra Proponent Nnamdi Kanu in court. Not much is known on that at the moment.
In related development Aba was brought to a stand still (again, you say) yesterday as pro Biafra protesters march to demand - among other things - freedom for Mr. Kalu.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has banned the importation of small - sized generators popularly called I-beta-pass-my-neighbour. This development, they say is as a result of the hazards which it poses to health, bla bla bla. All generators that use fossil fuels constitute hazards to our health, so I don't personally think banning the most affordable one solves any problem when the rich man's massive generator is poisoning a whole street effortlessly. I don't think we have changed our culture of treating the leg for a head injury.
Too much bad news this morning, hopefully the day serves up more pleasant happenings. Until then, be good people, pray for Nigeria.
They say today is "Have a bad day day". Well don't.
And don't forget the ancient dance. You'll be seeing it aplenty these days.
